About the Artist
1985 doğumlu Çilem Akyıldız, Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi Güzel Sanatlar Fakültesi Moda Aksesuar Ana Sanat Dalı’ndan mezun olduktan sonra Moda ve Tekstil Tasarımı alanında yüksek lisansını tamamladı. Eğitim sürecinde ayakkabı tasarımı ve aksesuar alanında yoğunlaşarak, yaratıcı çizgisini işlevsellikle buluşturan özgün tasarımlar geliştirdi.
Profesyonel kariyerindeİnci Deri ve FLO Ayakkabı gibi önemli firmalarda tasarımcı olarak görev alan Akyıldız, özellikle kadın ayakkabı tasarımında deneyim kazandı. Freelance çalışmalarının yanı sıra ulusal ve uluslararası birçok fuar, sergi ve projede yer aldı.
Sanat pratiğinde moda ile çağdaş sanatın kesişim noktalarını araştıran Akyıldız, 2019’dan itibaren karma sergilerde yer alarak üretimlerini farklı disiplinlerde görünür kılmaya başladı. 2022’de yayımlanan “1960 Sonrası Sanat Disiplinlerinin Moda Aksesuar Tasarımına Etkisi” başlıklı makalesi, akademik çalışmalarını da destekledi.
Katıldığı yarışmalarda dereceler elde eden sanatçı, tasarımlarını yalnızca ticari bir ürün değil; aynı zamanda estetik, kültürel ve toplumsal bir ifade biçimi olarak kurgulamaktadır. İstanbul merkezli çalışmalarını sürdüren Çilem Akyıldız, hem sanat üretiminde hem de tasarım projelerinde aktif olarak yer almaktadır.

Born in 1985, Çilem Akyıldız graduated from Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Fashion Accessories, and later completed her master’s degree in Fashion and Textile Design. During her studies, she focused on footwear and accessory design, developing original works that blend creativity with functionality.
In her professional career, Akyıldız worked as a designer for major companies such as İnci Deri and FLO Footwear, gaining extensive experience in women’s shoe design. Alongside her freelance projects, she has participated in numerous national and international fairs, exhibitions, and collaborative projects.
In her artistic practice, Akyıldız explores the intersections of fashion and contemporary art. Since 2019, she has been actively involved in group exhibitions, bringing her productions into visibility across different disciplines. Her 2022 article “The Influence of Post-1960 Art Disciplines on Fashion Accessory Design” reflects her academic engagement in the field.
Recognized with awards in various design competitions, Akyıldız regards her designs not only as commercial products but also as aesthetic, cultural, and social statements. Based in Istanbul, she continues to actively produce and collaborate in both art and design projects.
