Manifesto: A Midsummer Night's Dream
(This was inspired by a theatrical work.)
We are the beings who remember.
Time leaves its marks on us; some deep, some superficial. This work bridges the past and the present like a red light shining through those marks. “A Midsummer Night's Dream” is not just a dream. It is the awakening of the repressed, the cry of silence.
The faces of the figures here are blurred; because their identities have been lost, repressed or erased by society. These bodies rising against a dark background are representations of souls trapped in loneliness. They are both protected and unprotected. While each of them touches the other, they actually withdraw into themselves and heal their inner pain.
Sometimes it is a trauma, sometimes it is a longing, sometimes it is an incomplete touch in childhood.
These red lines are a passage where memories are woven together and passed on to the present day. On that short but intense summer night, dreams come true, the repressed becomes real.

About the Artist
Birsen Çakar, 26 Ocak 1997'de Osmaniye'de doğdu. Trakya Üniversitesi'nden sanat eğitimi bölümünden mezun olduktan sonra, kendi özgün anlatım tarzını geliştirerek sanatsal yolculuğuna devam etti.
Onun için sanat sadece estetik bir arayış değil, aynı zamanda insan ruhunun sessiz ve samimi bir keşfidir. Eserlerinde genellikle yüzleri bulanık ve kimlikleri belirsiz figürler yer alır. Duyguların, acının, kederin veya özlemin belirli bir kimliği olduğuna inanmadığı için figürlerinin yüzleri bulanık ve kimlikleri belirsizdir. Evrensel duygulara değinmeyi ve herkesin kendini özdeşleştirebileceği ortak bir duygusal dünya yaratmayı amaçlamaktadır.
Çalışmalarında yağlı boya, pastel ve çeşitli diğer teknikleri bir araya getirmeyi seviyor. Ayrıca dijital sanat üretmeye de devam ediyor. Her teknik, aktarmak istediği duyguların farklı bir yönünü ortaya çıkarıyor. Figürlerindeki eller, omuzlar, kucaklamalar ve dokunuşlar, sessizce söylenen cümleler gibidir. Yüzlerin olmaması bir eksiklik değil, izleyicilere kendi hikayelerini yansıtabilecekleri bir alan sağlıyor.
